Peace in the Static

A song by K.B.W

BEHIND THE SONG

The story behind it.

We all go through seasons where life gets rough and we take some losses. This song is about getting through that season.

When things get hard, it's easy to let other people tell us how to feel and what to do next. Everybody's got an opinion. The phone keeps ringing. Our own thoughts get loud. But we've already got what we need. We've got the Holy Spirit, and we've got Christ to guide us.

Life is the static. It doesn't always go quiet. But His voice is still in it, and His peace doesn't wait for the noise to stop. We just have to slow down and listen.

If you're in that season right now, turn the other voices down. He's still speaking, and He's still got it handled.

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me."

JOHN 10:27

The lyrics Written by K.B.W

Chorus

I got peace in the middle of the static
I don't reach when I know He got it handled
I been low, still came out, no panic
Room went dark, spirit lit the way like a candle

Whole lotta noise, I don't dance with it
Phone keep ringin', I don't answer it
I was in my head, couldn't handle it
Now I look back like, yeah, God planned it

Verse 1

I was tryna make it make sense
Had to let it breathe like incense
Everything I forced got tense
Everything He touched made sense

I don't even talk like I used to
I don't let a mood come use me
I don't let a room reduce me
I don't let a no confuse me

I been outside, but my soul been inside
I been on go, had to learn how to sit right
I been too grown for the back and the forth
I been too blessed to be keeping a score

Look at that
Dropped one thing, got it right back
Lost that road, found a side path
Thought I missed mine, but the time had

Shifted
Whole life lifted
Could've went numb, but my heart still gifted
I seen God move low-key, no witness
Now I don't trip when the plot get twisted

Verse 2

I don't want the loudest table
I just want my house stable
I just want my mind grateful
I just want my steps faithful

Had to cut the feed, it was feeding me fear
Had to lose a few just to see what was near
Had to stop asking everybody what they hear
When the voice I needed been clear

Ooh, that's different
Peace got weight, I can feel when it's missing
I don't chase waves, I can tell when it's drifting
I don't fake faith, I just walk with it limping

Still me
Still got flaws in the real me
Still get tired when the bills speak
Still look up when the field steep

And I ain't gotta make it deep
It's already underneath
I just move how I move
He been ordering my feet

Static in the line, but I caught that
Had to slow down, then it all came back
I was in my head, You were on that
I was tryna leave, You were like, nah, not yet

Outro

Yeah
Still hear You
Through the static
Mm

THE STORY OF K.B.W

The pen came back.
The purpose changed.

I didn't write anything for over a decade. I had stepped away from music because I could no longer support how my words were being used.

“I Got the Ghost” started with a hook. That opened the door to writing again, this time with God as the foundation.

I'm a father. I'm still learning. The music comes from faith, struggle, growth, and conviction. Every song is an opportunity to point someone toward Christ.

ON THE RECORD / ABOUT THE MUSIC

Every lyric is written by me. Every story, idea, message, and meaning comes from me.

I use AI as part of the production process, including the vocals. Technology allowed me to return to music without becoming something I've never wanted to be.

The technology is part of the process.
The testimony is mine.
