The Way

Lyrics
The story behind it

I pray everyday for God to guide my steps. Every situation, every decision. Show me how to handle this.

The answer came back clear.

I already sent you the example.
Look at the way that He did it.

So I sat with that. What would it have been like to actually walk with Jesus? Not read about Him but walk with Him. Watch Him work a room, watch Him handle whatever came at Him.

The longer I sat, the more the question changed on me. I stopped imagining the scene and started studying the movement. Everybody talks about what He did, I got stuck on how He did it. He never rushed, never chased anybody's approval. Death on the table and He's calm. Mocked to His face and He keeps that look, like He could see the whole way ahead. That's a way to live.

I knew I couldn’t walk with Him on those roads, but I can walk like Him on mine. That's what changed how I write. I'm not fishing for lines and a mood. I'm trying to move through my mess the way He moved through His. Steady. Settled. Weight before the crown.

Intro
Still thinking about the way you move
I mean, look at the way that He did it
Came in quiet but everything shifted
Hands on pain and the whole room different
Say it was love but it looked like vision
I was just watching the steps that s all
Way He moved through the mess, no pause
Crown came later, the weight came first
Still took the walk like it ain't that hard
Yeah, yeah
Verse 1
I mean people keep talking like power is loud
He was the type let the silence be proud
Walk in the spot let the spirit get still
Everybody tough 'til the truth get around
And I was thinking the way that He moved
Never too pressed, never chasing the room
Word in His mouth and the water got scared
Wind got rebuked and the waves made room
Kind of like who do you know with that calm?
Death on the table, He breaking His arm
Touching the leper like none of it's there
Whole time carrying Heaven in palms
And I ain't saying it just to perform
I'm talking dust on His feet in the storm
Regular robe but the weight was enormous
Look like a man but the presence was more
Like, wait
Look what He did with the pressure
Pain hit different when purpose is settled
Cross on His back but He carried it better
That part
Chorus
Look at the way that He did it
Came in quiet but everything shifted
Hands on pain and the whole room different
Say it was love but it looked like vision
I was just watching the steps that's all
Way He moved through the mess, no pause
Crown came later, the weight came first
Still took the walk like it ain't that hard
Yeah, yeah
Verse 2
And it was crazy they looked at Him plain
Didn't see fire could sit in that frame
Talk like a servant, move like a king
Never did chase it still came with the reign
I been still thinking on one little thing
How He had peace with the world in His face
How He got mocked and still kept that look
Like He could see what was next the whole way
That's why I'm different when I hit the booth
I ain't just fishing for lines and a mood
I'm trying to write like I walk with the Man
Seen what He doing, got stuck on the proof
Seen what He do with a heart when it's split
Seen what He do when the shame get thick
Seen what He do when the grave look final
Roll that stone and then talk like this
Hold on
Outro
Still thinking about the way He moved
