The story behind it

My name is K.B.W, and if you've followed me for a minute you know the phrase I keep close, Kept By The Word. Every song I've made points at it one way or another. This is the first one that says it out loud.

In the Word is about how you actually stay kept. And for me it's not complicated. Wake up, first thing, straight to the Word. Before the phone, before the noise, before I speak to the world. I got kids in the house. I can't lead them wrong. When my mind gets hit, I go to the page. Rough day, Proverbs. Heavy heart, Psalms. Need fire, Gospel. That's my actual routine.

But I didn't want this one to be another testimony you listen to. I wanted an anthem you sing. "Where we at? In the Word." You can't say that by yourself. It needs a house, a car, a room full of people answering back. My prayer is that families sing this. That somebody's kids know the answers before they know the verses.
